WHITE-FACED WHISTLING-DUCK Dendrocygna viduata
Whistling-Ducks belong to a distinctive subfamily of ducks which perch erect, frequently in tree and have characteristic whistling calls. This species is the most commonly-encountered of the Paraguayan branch of the family. In fact it is an extremely widespread species occurring throughout the tropical Americas and even in Africa! They are usually encountered in small groups, often around small cattle ponds which seem to adequately meet their needs!
