ENTARARA SPINY LIZARD Tropidurus tarara CERRADO
The Tropidurus or Spiny Lizards are a group of about 20 species confined to South America which are typical of dry areas. They are shaped somewhat like Agamid Lizards, with flattened bodies and large heads, this species being largely arboreal. This species is currently considered endemic to the Cerrado of the northern Oriental region of Paraguay (though it likely also occurs in extreme southern Mato Grosso do Sul) and it is relatively common in its range, occurring in three national parks. It has been recently described by Carvalho (2016) - download using link below.
