DULL-COLOURED GRASSQUIT Tiaris obscurus
Dull by name, dull by nature, this is a brownish, inconspicuous, seedeater-like bird that is a winter visitor to Chaco scrub. It breeds in the Yungas and foothills of the Andes, but is easily overlooked in Paraguay because of its retiring nature. Note the strongly orange-coloured mandible and the warm brownish wings contrasting with the greyer head.
