SOUTHERN SCRUB-FLYCATCHER Sublegatus modestus
As if the Elaenias weren´t difficult enough to identify on there own there is also this little flycatcher to consider! Try to concentrate less on the colour of these birds and more on the shape. This species is smaller than most Elaenias, somewhat brighter yellow below and with shorter, stubbier bill. He tends to perch low at the edge of tangled vegetation, making occasional forays into the open to take flying insects.
