URUCUMU SQUIRREL Sciurus urucumus
Paraguay´s only squirrel, this handsome species is known only from a pair of specimens from the Bahía Negra, one of which was later lost after being left in a tree!!! A couple of sightings of the species indicate that it is uncommon even in the remote area in which it occurs.
