CHALK-BROWED MOCKINGBIRD Mimus saturninus
North American birders used to the vocal prowess of their local Mockingbird will be a little dissappointed by the Chalk-browed variety. They´re not great singers, in fact for the most part they produce a horrendous array of nasal squawks and metallic clanks that are anything except easy on the ear. Chalk-broweds are social birds, with most of the group foraging on the ground while a single sentry sits up on an exposed perch, ready to sound the alarm should danger approach.
