SMALL OVEN FROG Leptodactylus latinasus
A small slender Leptodactylus distributed mainly in the southern Chaco with a marginal distribution east of the Rio Paraguay. The name oven frog comes from the underground chambers they dig in muddy areas in which the eggs are laid and protected until hatching. It is a locally common species, but can be difficult to locate, the males singing their repetitive piping whistle song from the base of tall grasses.
