SHOVEL-NOSED CHAMBER FROG Leptodactylus bufonius
Abundant in the dry Chaco, this burrow-dwelling frog is notable for its toad-like warty skin and broad black spots on the dorsal surface. Known as the Rana Vizcachera in Argentina as it is frequently found in vizcacha burrows, this species calls from a concelaed location, generally beginning with a few short calls following by a long series of whistles.
