SUNGREBE Heliornis fulica
Jumpy, shy and lovers of forested streams with thick over-hanging waterways, the strange sungrebe is not a fan of the camera. This species is quite unlike any other Paraguayan bird, and the similarity to real grebes is tenuous at best. Perhaps it comes from the lobed toes? But the black-and-yellow banded legs and feet of this species are not only unlike any grebe, they are unlike any other bird!
