STRIPED OWL Asio clamator
Widespread across Paraguay, but still under-recorded. It is a species that you stumble across rather than look for. One Saturday night I was enjoying a beer on a warm summer´s evening in the plaza in Encarnación when one of these birds flew in silently and perched above my head. It watched me for a while before disappearing into the night sky.
