VARIABLE BLACKHEAD Apostolepis dimidiata
Apostolepis is a genus of rarely seen burrowing snakes, typically with a red-coloured body and known commonly as "Blackheads". This species is associated with Cerrado-type habitats, and as you can see from the common name is a variable species. The variation shown below, barroi, is typical of the cerrado zone of Paraguay and was once considered a separate species.
