HELLMAYR´S PIPIT Anthus hellmayri
Hellmayr´s Pipit is a rare (or at least rarely-recorded) pipit in Paraguay. It is a moderate-sized species, clearly larger than the commoner Yellowish Pipit, and has obvious pale spectacles which give it an open-faced appearance. Note the fine crown and breast streaking, and the very light flank streaking. Hellmayr´s Pipit frequently sings from a prominent perch, unusual amongst pipits which usually sing only in flight.
