CENTRAL DWARF FROG Physalaemus centralis
A fairly large member of this genus of typically small frogs. This species can be identified on account of the dark lateral band passing to the snout, the presence of two dark "eye-spots" on the hind quarters and the smooth, mostly unmarked skin. It is distributed in northern Paraguay in the transition zone between cerrado and Atlantic Forest. Note the remarkable similarity between the call of this species and that of the Spot-billed Toucanet Selenidera maculirostris!
