PALE-BELLIED  WOOLLY MOUSE OPOSSUM Micoureus constantiae
Smith P 2011 - FAUNA Paraguay Handbook of the Mammals of Paraguay Number 41 Pale-bellied Woolly Mouse Opossum Marmosa constantiae
Pdf file 396kb

Only confirmed to be present in Paraguay in 2009, this second species of Woolly Mouse Opossum differs from the Long-furred Woolly Mouse Opossum by the white bases to the ventral pelage (as opposed to grey), the more yellowish colouration around the facial area (especially on the snout and around the black eye-rings) and the fact that the pelage does not extend so far onto the base of the tail. It occurs in northern regions of Paraguay in drier areas than the Long-furred (an Atlantic Forest endemic).
