LITTLE BLUE HERON Egretta caerulea
Apparently under expansion, this species is an irregular if fairly frequent vagrant to Paraguay. It has been recorded on several occasions at the Bahía de Asunción, though records invariably relate to juvenile birds. Note that though adults are easily recognisable for their slate blue mplumage, juveniles are mostly white and could easily be mistaken for other egrets. Note however the thick greenish bill, greenish legs and blackish wing tips.
