WOOLLY FALSE VAMPIRE Chrotopterus auritus  CLICK FOR HANDBOOK ACCOUNT
A monster-sized bat, one of the largest in South America, though this species isn´t the blood sucker its name suggests it is vicious predator able to take prey the size of mice and small birds. Apart from its huge size this bat has one other exaggerated characteristic that makes it easy to recognise - those ridiculously long ears!
