The species in this genus are known as "Sipo Snakes" and are arboreal in habits. They move quickly and smoothly through the trees and are equally adept on land and in water. They hunt lizards and amphibians. This species is confined to the Dry Chaco and was originally described as a subspecies of Chironius quadricarinatus, but is now considered distinct.
