WHITE-RUMPED MONJITA Xolmis velatus
The cerrado Monjita and true to form he is a handsome black, grey and white bird with an eyecatching wing pattern. Few sights in the cerrado are more pleasant than sitting back in the shade of a sunny afternoon, watching a Monjita happily foraging for aerial insects. Erroneous records of the rare Black-and-white Monjita Xolmis dominicanus refer to a misidentified specimen of this, superficially similar, species.
