BARN OWL Tyto alba
The "White Owl" is almost global in distribution and instantly recognisable by his pale colouration and heart-shaped face. They are often found in rural areas close to human habitation where they nest in tree holes or barn roofs. At night the piercing cat-like screech they produce is distinctly frightening until you find the source, the gentle, fluffy Barn Owl!
