TROPICAL KINGBIRD Tyrannus melancholicus
The arrival of spring means the arrival of the rambunxious Tropical Kingbird. So full of himself is he that he has no problem sitting out on an exposed perch showing off his bright yellow underparts. He´ll let you get pretty close, eventually flying reluctantly when you take one step too many and retreating to an equally exposed perch a little further away. The Kingbird isn´t intimidated by an observer or by other flycatchers. When he is around he makes it quite clear that he really is the King!
