BLACK-GOGGLED TANAGER Trichothraupis melanops
In certain humid forest areas the Black-goggled Tanager is one of the commonest members of the avifauna, forming noisy flocks that perch along tracks and chastise passers-by, but as you head further north they become gradually less conspicuous. In fact only the adult male has the black goggles, these being absent in females and juvenile males, but birds of all sexes and ages have a broad white flash across the wing, often surprisingly conspicuous in flight!
