BUFF-NECKED IBIS Theristicus caudatus
A large brightly-coloured ibis with a thick neck and honking goose-like call. This species is not dependent on water, preferring short-grass fields where they feed by probing the soil with the long bill. The species is at its best in flight when its ornate wing pattern recalls a giant Southern Lapwing.
