SEPIA SNAKE Thamnodynastes strigatus
A small, brownish snake reaching a maximum of 80cm. It is frequently encountered, but whilst it prefers to flee from pursuers it is capable of giving a painful bite if pursued. It is an adaptable species, found in a variety of habitats, but invariably close to water where it spends the day resting under stones or trunks and emerges at night to hunt small lizards and rodents.
