WHITE-LORED SPINETAIL Synallaxis albilora PANTANAL
In the wetlands of the Pantanal and northern Chaco regions lives this secretive, rufous-coloured spinetail. Though he prefers dense waterside vegetation, he is not particularly shy, and small groups can be approached quite closely. White-lored Spinetail is a split from the Plain-crowned Spinetail Synallaxis gujanensis, a species which is not now considered to occur in Paraguay. The split was made on the basis of vocal differences and a very specific habitat preference - it is considered endemic to the Pantanal region.
