SUIRIRI FLYCATCHER Suiriri suiriri
Suiriri, the generic Guaraní name for a medium-sized flycatcher, has been adopted into English for this species as well as the scientific name. It is a complex and variable form, with white-bellied and yellow-bellied birds existing, and at least previously more than one species was considered to be involved (though they were split on morphological grounds not on the basis of belly colour!). Despite his variability, the Suiriri Flycatcher is easily identified by call, and fortunately he can´t keep quiet for more than a few minutes!
