YELLOW-BILLED TERN Sternula superciliaris
The smaller of the two regularly-occuring terns, this graceful little bird also has a yellow bill. They lack the distinctive wing pattern of their larger cousin the Large-billed Tern and may remind northern hemisphere birders of Least S.antillarum or Little Terns S.albifrons. They are common in Paraguay most often encountered along the major rivers, but occasionally an individual can be seen on inland water sources, even in the Chaco!
