HAIRY TREE PORCUPINE Sphiggurus spinosus
The smaller of the two Paraguayan porcupines, this medium-large rodent is almost entirely arboreal. He can be most easily distinguished from his larger relative the Prehensile-tailed Porcupine by the fact that his dorsal spines are less visible. That doesnt mean they are not there though, just that his hair is longer, so dont try and grab him or you´ll get a nasty surprise!
