BUSH DOG Speothos venaticus
Short-legged, short-nosed and short-tailed, all of these are adaptations for a subterranean existence - for the Bush Dog is a burrow dweller. They are sociable animals, emerging after dark in small packs to hunt. Being found mainly in the vicinity of waterways in humid forest areas, the Bush Dog is very rarely seen and probably under-recorded as a result of the fact that its prints are almost indistinguishable from those of the much commoner Crab-eating Fox.
