BAY-CAPPED WREN-SPINETAIL Spartanoica maluroides NEAR THREATENED
A tiny brown bird with a long tail, this rare little winter migrant is a charming inhabitant of wet grasslands and reedbeds in southern Paraguay. His only ornaments of note are his bright rufous cap (or bay, whichever way you look at it!) and his deeply spined tail, both combining to make up his rather long-winded common name!
