SPOT-BELLIED SLUG-EATING SNAKE Sibynomorphus ventrimaculatus
This small innocuous snake is an uncommon member of the herpetofauna of eastern Paraguay. Looking at it you may be forgiven for confusing it with the Tigrada Slug-eating Snake. However the most obvious difference between the two species is very subtle. Check along the spinal column of the animal - if the scales are hexagonal you are dealing with this species (FPREP211PH), if they are rhomboid it is the other!!
