SCALED DOVE Scardafella squammata
A distinctive little Ground-Dove with a surprisingly local distribution, common in some areas but absent from other areas with apparently suitable habitat. Scaled Doves walk with a wobble, as do many of their close relations, but they have inherited the habit of cocking the tail up in the air when walking. In flight the rufous bases to the primaries are conspicuous.
