BLACK-THROATED SALTATOR Saltator atricollis CERRADO
Saltators are a group of huge-billed birds, superficially similar to Grosbeaks, with sweet thrush-like voices. The Black-throated Saltator is the cerrado representative of the group, and, on account of their keen eyesight and willingness to alarm call at the slightest provocation, are one of the focal species around which cerrado mixed flocks form. This species lacks the strong head pattern of other Saltators, but his bright orange bill more than makes up for it!
