PROCHILODONTIDAE - BOCACHICOS
Their English name is a Spanish name meaning "small mouths" and their Paraguayan name is a Guaraní name Carimbatá. Popular food fish they are also exploited for the production of fish oil and fish powder. Bocachicos are distinguished by the small head, broad lips, "hunchbacked" appearance and large scales. They feed almost exclusively on  organic mud.
