BLUE-WINGED MACAW Primolius maracana VULNERABLE
Once common, this forest-dwelling macaw has disappeared over vast areas of its former range and is now sadly a rare sight in south-eastern South America. It is a small macaw, little larger than a parakeet and like its close relatives form strong pair bonds that may last throughout the life of the bird. This species is associated with Atlantic Forests of eastern Paraguay.
