GOLDEN-COLLARED MACAW Primolius auricollis
Macaws are large parrots characterised by their bare white facial skin. Not all macaws are like the big red birds often exhibited in zoos though, some, like the Golden-collared, are much smaller and less brightly-coloured. These macaws are sociable birds, living in faithful pairs within small flocks, and are one of the highlights of a trip up into the Paraguayan Pantanal where they remain common.
