WHITE-FACED IBIS Plegadis chihi
Ibis are medium to large waterbirds with a long down-curved bill. The White-faced is one of the smaller common ibises which are considerably more gracile and lightweight than the heavily-built, thick-necked Theristicus ibises. For much of the year the white face that gives this species its name is barely in evidence and it is often mistaken for the Bare-faced Ibis which is of a similar size. In flight note however the longer legs of this species which trail along behind the tail.
