WHITE-BARRED PICULET Picumnus cirratus
A miniature woodpecker, the White-barred Piculet is a fairly common inhabitant of semi-open areas with scattered trees. It uses its sharp, conical bill to hammer in much the same way as larger woodpeckers, though for obvious reasons concentrates its efforts on smaller, thinner branches! Despite its size the drumming noise produced by him is remarkably loud and one of the best indications that a Piculet is in the vicinity.
