EARLESS LEAF FROG Phyllomedusa azurea
The bright green, bug-eyed, long-legged frogs of the genus Phyllomedusa are stereotypical frogs of the rainforest in most peoples minds. Because they live in the trees and moisture levels are limited, these frogs are only able to avoid dessication because they secrete a skin lubricant, which they wipe over the body using their feet (FPANF221PH). This species can be recognised by the fact that it lacks obvious tympanic membranes or "ears", but is otherwise very similar to the Orange-legged Leaf Frog.
