SCALE-THROATED HERMIT Phaethornis eurynome ATLANTIC FOREST
Hermits are a large and distinctive group of hummingbirds with long tails and long, downcurved bills. The bill may look a little bit unwieldy, but for the hermit it is like a key to a door, fitting perfectly into long, trumpet-shaped flowers and allowing them access to a nectar store that other species cannot reach.
