SPOT-WINGED WOOD-QUAIL Odontophorus capueira
The only Paraguayan representative of his family, the little Urù as he is known locally is secretive but surprisingly confiding bird when you stumble across him. Often in small flocks which keep contact with quiet clucking calls, they reserve their best vocal performances for the evening roost where they produce a clamorous URU-URU-URU... chorus, the individual notes being the origin of the Guaranì name.
