BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON Nycticorax nycticorax
As its name suggests, the Night-Heron is at least partly nocturnal, with birds departing from their day-roosts noisily as the sun goes down. However they are however also active on cloudy days. It is a common bird, often overlooked during the day as it sleeps quietly in trees. Adults are handsome birds with black, white and grey plumage, juveniles are streaky and brown.
