LESSER NOTHURA Nothura minor  CERRADO  VULNERABLE
The smallest of the Nothuras, the Lesser is a rare cerrado endemic that is easily-overlooked. Best detected by its piping call most often heard at dusk, there then begins the painstaking task of trying to locate exactly where the noise is coming from - the voice has a strange distant quality!! This species was considered a Brazilian endemic until its remarkable discovery in Paraguay in 2003 by Juan Klavins and co!
