HOODED TANAGER Nemosia pileata
In amongst the mixed canopy flocks that accumulate in forested areas is this unusual little tanager with an equally unusual voice - sounding like the crackling of electricity. Because of their high-living habits they are usually seen from below and can sometimes seem confusing, but check out those orange legs - a surprisingly eyecatching and diagnostic character. It is an adaptable species, even occurring in relatively dry forests of the cerrado and chaco.
