BRAN-COLOURED FLYCATCHER Myiophobus fasciatus
The Bran-coloured Flycatcher is a stereotypical LBJ (little brown job). He is an open-country flycatcher, going about his business quietly on the edge of scrubby thickets. Males have a colourful crown patch, but you´ll do well to see it in the field, it is usually concealed beneath the brown head feathers.

Females lack the crown patch of males, though in the field it is rarely visible. We have noted a certain amount of individual variability in this species. The crown patch may be yellow (usually) or orange (rarely), while odd individuals show a fairly prominent pale supraloral area (Fig 5) not found in other individuals. These characters are interchangeable ie yellow-crowned birds with pale supralorals exist as do orange-crowned birds with no supraloral.
