CHIMANGO CARACARA Milvago chimango
So common is the Chimango in Argentina that the locals have a saying "No gastes balas en Chimangos" (Donīt waste bullets on Chimangos) which essentially translates to "Donīt flog a dead horse! They are pretty common in southern Paraguay too, though they become progressively less numerous further north in the country as you reach the extremes of its geographical range. Like other Caracaras they are primarily scavengers, but seem to spend much of their day loafing around doing pretty much nothing, presumably just waiting for something to die!
