WHITE WOODPECKER Melanerpes candidus
A screeching racket has you turning quickly around to see what all the fuss is about. Suddenly overhead appear first one, then two and then more black-and-white birds bounding in flight towards a dead tree where they continue to scream at each other in an unruly manner. The White Woodpecker might lack manners, but he is a unique and impressive species that you will never tire of seeing.
