BLACK-CRESTED FINCH Lophospingus pusillus
To aviculturists the little finch with the Mohican hairstyle is known as the Pygmy Cardinal. He is a winter visitor to the extreme northern Chaco when he is one of the most abundant members of mixed, seed-eating flocks. Come back in the summer though and you will be lucky if you see one. The oppressive Chaco heat is just too much for him to handle and he moves off to spend the breeding season somewhere a little bit cooler!
