YELLOW-BELLIED LIOPHIS Liophis poecilogyrus
Like other species of Liophis this species is a fast-moving, ground-dwelling snake. This species is usually found close to water where they feed almost exclusively on amphibians. It is a small snake reaching a maximum of 70cm in length and in keeping with other members of its genus it is relatively innocuous. They vary greatly in colour pattern, the most distinctive form being solidly black above and yellow below.
