EUROPEAN HARE Lepus europaeus
Introduced from Europe into Argentina and Paraguay, this invasive species is a fairly common sight in agricultural areas in southern Paraguay, where it has adapted to human-created habitats in much the same way as it has in its home land. For a long time confusion reigned over the specific identity of the Lepus sp.in this region, with some suspicion that the African Lepus capensis may be involved, but recent work in Argentina has demonstrated the European origin of these individuals.
