PIRATIC FLYCATCHER Legatus leucophaius
The little Piratic Flycatcher gets his name from his somewhat surprising nesting habits. Too otherwise engaged to build his own nest, he hangs around colonies of Red-rumped Cacique until he spots a property that takes his fancy. Then, depsite his small frame compared to the much larger Caciques, he sets about a campaign of harassment of the birds until they abandon their nest completely and he is free to take over the tenancy. If you are having problem seeing this species learn his call, you´ll find that he´s not quite as rare as you thought he was!
